Pastor Dan Nichols
Sermon Text: Hebrews 1:4-14
The primary motif running through the book of Hebrews is the statement, "Jesus is better." And in the introductory content of the book the preacher aims to persuade his readers that Jesus is a better messenger than the angels. He defends this argument by using the Old Testament to contrast the character and ministry of Christ with the character and ministry of the angels, explaining that Jesus is appointed to a superior office, that His activity as king is superior to that of the angels, and that He achieves a superior inheritance, one that the angels serve on His behalf. Jesus is a better messenger with a better message. Which leaves modern readers pondering which messages and messengers they exalted above Jesus.
