Pastor Dan Nichols
Doctrine is the collection of biblical truths that rise up out of the pages of Scripture. They get connected to one another and to our lives and then get passed down in the mission of making disciples. Doctrine is this body or system of realities about God, man, Christ, and the world that gets communicated for the good of the world.
So that it is not something that you just look at and admire. It belongs to everyone who knows the source of doctrine, which is Jesus; not to keep, like a lamp under a basket, but to carry and put forth. See, doctrine does not sit untouched inside of books covered in leather, or on a well-designed web page, or in the minds of only the brightest and most interested Christians. It moves, works, and acts out. Truth is always doing something. It has a job. Doctrine builds up. Its work is formative in nature.
