Pastor Dan Nichols
The Gospel is not something we just proclaim. We perform it as well. Meaning that the Church acts as the theater for God’s redemptive story. One of the ways in which we do this is by adjusting the rhythms of our lives in such a way that we walk through the life of Christ as it is captured in the church calendar.
Last week was the first act of the drama - entitled the dawning of the kingdom, in which we saw the long-awaited King, his arrival, as well as the announcement of His reign, of His kingship. Today we see the second act of the drama, which is the inauguration of the kingdom. The king has come, He's been announced and seen, some of the groundwork has been lain. But the kingdom itself has yet to be put into place. This happens through the King's affliction, His coming alive, and the kingdom advancing by the work of the Holy Spirit, all of which is what Lent, Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost are for.
