Pastor Dan Nichols
For more than a month citizens of the United States of America have gone about their lives with a certain significant question hanging over them: “who will occupy the highest office in our country in 2021”. If you’re like me, you somewhat assumed the answer following the first week after the election. But it hadn’t been made official until just recently. And that’s ok. These weeks were difficult, a bit frustrating at times...but there are checks and balances that ensure safe and fair elections. I’m glad for this. The setting to our passage tonight is in a much different place, called Canaan. We live in a constitutional republic, one which creates democracy. Not so with Canaan. But the predominant question hovering over the passage, similar to the question we’ve been living under, is, “Who will rule Canaan. Who will be its king?” The answer to this question question is found in Genesis 14; found in a man shrouded in mystery.
