Sermon Text: Luke 10:25-37
A parable is a short story with a simple point. But a warning must be heeded: simple does not always mean easy. Such is the case with the Parable of the Good Samaritan. While the story itself is commonly understood, its meaning is often misinterpreted in a way that makes Jesus out to be a great moral teacher, and little else. But the meaning of Jesus' providential encounter with a lawyer who knew his Bible as well as anyone has much more to do with the Messiah and His kingdom than it does how you and I ought to be living. And achieving this meaning requires being able to put the pieces of the puzzle together the right way.
